As the only independent body advocating for and working towards improving economic competitiveness in Egypt, the ENCC assumes a pivotal role in Egypt's future development  path. It is a role that presents significant  challenges but with it exciting opportunities through  close coordination, cooperation and guidance  with the private sector, academia and government, to make demonstrable and sustainable changes in Egypt's economic future: improving business environment, investor attractiveness and improving the lives of Egypt's young and vibrant population.

These aspirations are achievable and working through ENCC's various sub-councils, projects and committees, and the unique entities under ENCC, such as the high profile Business Advisory Council (BAC) and close collaboration with the Egyptian Regulatory Reform and Development Activity, Egypt is poised to make real, sustainable and far-reaching changes in the management of its legal and regulatory framework that will ensure a meaningful and distinct elevation in Egypt's socio-economic status.

 

Mr . Seif Allah Fahmy & the ENCC

Seifallah Fahmy is a notable figure in Egypt, having served as the Chairman of the Egyptian National Competitiveness Council (ENCC) from 2014 till now. During his tenure, he made significant contributions to the council's mission of driving economic growth, job creation, and international competitiveness for Egypt.

As the chairman of the (ENCC), Fahmy led various initiatives aimed at improving Egypt's economic competitiveness, including advocating for the development of an innovation-driven economy, promoting entrepreneurship and small business growth, and encouraging investments in the country's infrastructure and human capital. One of Fahmy's most significant accomplishments was his role in establishing the first-ever National Innovation Strategy in Egypt. He worked closely with various government and private sector entities to create a comprehensive roadmap for Egypt to develop an innovation-driven economy, focused on building a supportive environment for research and development, promoting entrepreneurship and start-up culture, and increasing investment in science and technology. The strategy aims to create a culture of innovation in Egypt that can spur economic growth, create jobs, and drive international competitiveness.

Another important initiative led by Fahmy was the creation of the Egypt Entrepreneurship Summit, an annual event that brings together entrepreneurs, investors, and policymakers to promote the development of a vibrant startup ecosystem in Egypt. The summit aims to connect entrepreneurs with investors and mentors, promote knowledge-sharing and capacity building, and create a platform for policymakers to listen to the needs of the entrepreneurial community and take action to support their growth.

Under Fahmy's leadership, the (ENCC) also worked on improving the business environment in Egypt, aiming to streamline procedures, reduce bureaucracy, and cut red tape, which had previously hindered foreign investment and local businesses. The council created an online platform to provide information and resources for entrepreneurs and investors, as well as implemented various policy changes to improve the ease of doing business in Egypt.
